The Chief Financial Officer’s (CFO) organisation is a driving force behind the creation of greater value in the company. We are responsible for the financial and legal functions, providing professional support and advice, and for representing the group in financial markets. A key task for us is to ensure high levels of ethical and financial compliance with corporate and external requirements. By means of active stakeholder management, CFO will manage the market perception of Statoil in Norwegian and international financial markets.

Job Description

Interns are provided a value-added project to enhance business decisions via the Finance and Control (F&C) functional network. The function consists of deliveries in economic analysis, performance management, financial reporting and accounting. Interns should be able to take prior course work and gain an exposure to the real world application in a global energy company. The interns will build a comprehensive knowledge of the business working across the organization and will have an opportunity to present their final project to senior leadership.

Some of the key responsibilities of the F&C Intern may include:

Develop and maintain a good understanding and overview of the financials, ensuring accuracy

Assist in monthly/quarterly financial reporting and/or closing process in SAP, including coordination with other teams

Assist matters related to investment decisions, performance management, cost analysis, forecasting, accounting and securing required internal and external control compliance

Insight into financial variance analysis and account reconciliations

Develop and maintain processes, procedures and improvement initiatives

Assist on special projects based on business needs and industry climate

Value-added ad hoc analysis to support maximization of asset value

Gain overview of oil & gas finance and control function and stakeholder management


Completion of 2 years of degree by time of internship

Minimum 3.0 GPA
